Do you know why May 8, 1945, is not an armistice date properly speaking? If the Third Reich collapsed at the beginning of May 1945, and one of its most powerful leaders, Joseph Goebbels, tried to establish a conditional armistice with the allies, it is hardly possible to speak of an armistice to designate May 8, 1945, but rather a capitulation. The reason ? An armistice corresponds to a convention signed by governments to end the armed conflict before entering into negotiations leading to the establishment of conditions which themselves lead to the end of the state of war. Road, therefore, which was traversed with the armistice of 1918, but does not concern our date of 1945: May 8, 1945, the surrender of the belligerent is pure and simple. The state of war ends immediately. This is the direct victory for the allies.
